South Africa (SANDF) S2000 Camo African Warrior Battle Jacket
This webbing was developed by the African Warrior Project of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF), which focused on the needs of the future soldier.
It has 7 pockets in total: 2 large hip pockets, with a zipper closure and hook & loop quick access flap at the top. Both the large pockets have a double R4 magazine pockets closing with a hook & loop flap on front side of it and a drawstring closure pocket on the rear side of it. There is also a single small butt pocket with a zipper closure at the rear. Above both the large pocket it has a small pocket closing with a zipper and next to that a small pocket closing with a vertical zipper. This pocket has two small open pockets on both sides.
The waist and lower back is protected by heavy padding while the yolk is a large piece bearing all the support web straps. There is also a quick release clip and two d-rings at the rear for attaching equipment. This piece is dated 2001. It is in great condition with all zippers working and no damage.
Very little about this webbing is known to the public. It is issued in very limited numbers. It seems that the SANDF is first using any M83 battle jackets first. I know of 2 different models (owned both) of which is depicted in the photos.
