 US Vietnam M1961 Combat Field Pack 'Butt Pack' Dated 1962. Good condition and color, no rips or tears

The M1961 butt pack improved upon the original M1956 design with the addition of a rubberized waterproof throat lining to a larger storage compartment. Each new pack was supplied with a load carrying equipment instruction pamphlet or sheet. Like its predecessor, the pack was typically worn on the pistol belt, but could be worn on the back with the use of M1956 adapter straps, or clipped directly to the shoulder snap hooks on the M1967 suspenders.

The pack was typically worn on the back of the pistol belt, though it could be worn higher up the back with the use of adaptor straps. When worn in the standard position the rear suspender straps were clipped directly onto the pack, rather than to the upper row of eyelets on the belt.

US Vietnam-era M1961 butt pack from 1962 in excellent condition. Constructed from OD7 cotton duck with original carrying handle and plastic cardholder. Features side webbing and eyelet rows for attaching field gear like machete sheaths and bayonet scabbards. Designed to wear on the pistol belt or higher with adapter straps.
