The 8th Infantry Division, affectionately known as the “Pathfinder,” was an infantry division of the United States Army that played a significant role in the 20th century. During World War I, the division was initially activated in January 1918 but did not see combat. Instead, it returned to the United States. However, some units were deployed to the American Expeditionary Force to Siberia.

The division was reactivated on July 1, 1940, as part of the military buildup leading up to the United States’ entry into World War II. During World War II, the division saw extensive action in the European Theater of Operations. After the war, the division was relocated to West Germany and stationed at the Rose Barracks until its inactivation on January 17, 1992.
