Original South African 70 Pattern Small Shoulder Pack

Grading: Grade 1 — Previously issued, lightly used and fully functional

Dimensions: W 7" x D 2" x H 6.5"

The South African 70 Pattern Webbing was used by both South African Defence Forces and the South West African Police, replacing the earlier 61 Pattern. The South African 70 Pattern was based on the popular British 58 Pattern webbing, with some adjustments for the hotter African climate. The webbing sets were used extensively by South African forces during the 1970’s and 1980’s.

This small, square shoulder pack features a single pocket secured with a flap and stud fastener. It has a durable canvas strap which is secured with durable metal D-rings. There is also webbing loops for securing to a belt. The South African 70 Pattern webbing is renounced for its hard wearing.

This South African 70 Pattern Small Shoulder is tough and durable.

The South African 70 Pattern Small Shoulder Pack represents a significant piece of military field equipment history. Designed during the 1970s for the South African Defence Force, this Grade 1 specimen exemplifies the practical engineering standards of the era. Featuring durable canvas construction and period-correct hardware, it served soldiers across diverse operational theaters. Collectors value these packs for their authentic design, robust craftsmanship, and historical documentation of Cold War-era military logistics. A genuine artifact for serious militaria enthusiasts.
